His conviction adopted an enforcement operation by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, in April 2026, throughout which officers uncovered a facility allegedly used for the unlawful manufacturing and distribution of the pretend product.
Okoye was arrested through the operation, whereas samples of the recovered merchandise have been taken to the company’s laboratory for evaluation. The findings subsequently shaped a part of the investigation that led to his prosecution.
The conviction comes months after NAFDAC warned Nigerians in regards to the circulation of counterfeit Goya olive oil packaged in plastic bottles and introduced to customers as real imported merchandise.
